Well, then what choices DO you have in your desktop menu?

For ubuntu

System>Preferences>Font

Edit: Just looked at your screenshot, that is GTK1 so I'm not exactly sure, IIRC you can't change them.

To fix the fonts, you need a base install of KDE. You log into KDE, set your fonts, then log back into gnome. That's a problem when running KDE apps on gnome.

That's not a KDE app, that's a GTK1 app (as opposed to GTK+2, which most gnome apps are). You might be able to install and run some Gnome 1.x config tools to change the font, but you'd have to do some research as to what they were called and where to find them.

I used Gnome 1.x for a while, but at the time I was more used to using CDE so I didn't like or get used to Gnome 'till 2.0.

Ya right... but at first glance those glassy looking buttons did remind me of KDE... ;-)

@glasscleaner

open gedit and create a file with the following:

gtk-font-name = "Bitstream Vera Sans 10" <<< or whatever you want

and save the file as .gtkrc in your home folder.

That seems to fix the gtk fonts on KDE pretty well... might work for you there.
