They're all 7 megapixel cameras, and they all take terrific pictures. Dell is going to have a sale on canon digicams today and I was planning on ordering one (Coupon for 20% and -60 for purchases over 500.) They only have the G6 and S70 though and I was wondering which would be the best purchase. The SD500 is also an option, but I'd probably have to get that at a more expensive price than the G6 and S70. I know that the G6 and S70 offer more control, though they are a little bit older than the SD500. I'm no photographer, I just want a good digicam that'll last and offers great features and quality for the money I'll be spending. I believe with the 20% and -60, the G6 would end up around 360 w/o tax. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

go for the G6 mate

Get the SD500 or the S70. If you're no photographer then there is no point in getting the G6 since it will probably have way too many features you will never use.

If you just want a point and shoot go for the SD500. I have it and it's excellent check out dcresource.com for reviews of all three

I just bought the Canon Powershot S2 SI. Such an amazing camera. I don't know if it is an option for you, but be sure to check this camera out!!

S2 IS is good, but it has two huge flaws

1) AA batteries
2) SD Card.

back to the topic, i would either choose SD500 or S70, G6 is the worst camera from G series, it has better featues, but the design sucks

and if you want a really good camera, go for Rebel XT

If you are interested in becoming a decent photographer, then I would go with the G6 undoubtly. But if you really have no interest in taking artistic photographs then I would recommend the S70.
