Hi, I am planning to get my black 60gb Ipod Video today. First of all, I have a few questions.

I heard that the Ipod Video lacks accessories. Does it come with a charger or anyway I can charge my Ipod? Or do I have to purchase one?

Second, how long does it take to completely convert a 700mb divx file to ipod format?

Third, I am a student of a UC and I want to use the educational discount, I can get it for $369 this way. If I walk into my local Apple store, can I buy it for this amount? Thanks

Picked up my iPod last night, comes with a USB2 cable for syncing and charging on the computer only (headphones, disk, and insert for the universal dock). Using Mac the Ripper and Handbrake it took me about 2 hours to rip a movie and convert it. All you need to get the discount in the store is your student ID, I got mine with the government dioscount and all I had to do is show my ID and fill out a form.

Cool, so I have a iBook. I charge everything at night, so can put my iBook to sleep, charge it, connect the usb for the ipod and charge the ipod too? Or does the iBook has to be on? Thanks alot for the answers.

1) No it doesnt come with a charger but you can buy one from Apple directly. You can charge your iPod conecting it to your Computer using USB 2.0.

2) They are many converters you can use the Apple Official one that is QuickTime 7.0.3 Pro, or if you whant some free alternatives Use This if you'r a Windows User and if you are a Mac user i strongly recomend QuickTime Pro.

If you whant more info plz PM me or add me to one of your Messengers.

Mac The Ripper and Handbrake? Just use Handbrake, it can read directly from the DVD.

1) The USB cable will charge the iPod while it is connected to your computer.
2) Conversion time will depend on your CPU speed, but expect somewhere near an hour or more.
3) Just take your student ID with you.

I got my (white) 60GB iPod a couple days ago... You'll love it thumbs_up.gif

Oh, I have another question, I have a lot of DVDs with optional subtitles. Is there anyway I can convert the movie to ipod format and still be able to view the subtitles on the Ipod Video? Thanks

With both Handbrake and Recode you can check the box that will allow the subtitles, I'm not sure how it will look or if you'd be able to read it but give it a try and let us know. biggrin.gif
