I have a 12 inch iBook, thats 23 months old (according to coconutbattery wait, i bought it in January 04 (I think) ...wtf) ....anyway....

As of late, I've noticed my battery just isnt holding a good charge anymore. So I decided to investigate this last night, and i remembered CoconutBattery that was posted on TUAW, so i checked it out.

On 8/26 I was at 80% capacity.
Yestarday i was at 73% capacity. Not a bad drop for 2 months.

So, i shruged it off decided it was my power settings... I probably tweaked something in there like a jackass. My battery died, computer went to sleep and I did too for an hour. I woke up, went upstairs got the adapter, came back down plugged it in, woke it from sleep.

Coconut battery refreshes it self. and shows 67% capacity huh.gif huh.gif So i'm like well thats not right. So i call up apple care, but their closed.

I call today, and the rep says theres nothing wrong with that...

uhhhhh... NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT?!

Let's review...
From 8/26/05 to 10/25/05 - 80-73... thats 6% in 2 months.
From like 4pm to 5pm on 10/25/05 - 73-67.... thats 6%... in A HOUR

and yet apple care says theres nothing wrong with those figures... huh.gif huh.gif Do you see anything wrong with that figure? I sure as hell do.

Sounds like you didn't do the product recall on the iBook batteries which Apple issued...

I'm at 96% after 81 loadcycles (it says the age of my mac is 11 months but I did the product recall so the battery is newer)

My battery wasnt in the effected list of that recall

Current Battery Charge: 3863 mAh
Maximum Battery Charge: 3888 mAh

Current Battery Capacity: 3888 mAh
Original Battery Capacity: 4400 mAh
The green capacity meter says: 88%

Battery Load Cycles: 375

This is on my 14" iBook that's 10 months old. Seems about normal, I guess.

Yours on the other hand... unsure.gif

I don't know if that was any help.

EDIT: I'm curious, where on Long Island are you?

Dunno if this will help you at all. I'm quite happy how my Battery is chugging along its over a year old and only lost 6% capacity and 1% charge. Very nice. - Although I hardly use it away from its Power-cord.

I'm not entirely sure about coconut battery i have seen batterys fresh out of the box showing a loss of 0
5 capacity, but in paractise they last as long as they should new.

I got a PB G3 (Firewire) in a few weeks ago and ran it for fun, The bttery was at 8% of the original capacity smile.gif

Apple's batteries have only a 1 year warranty, even if you've taken out AppleCare because they are classed as consumable. You just have to buy a new battery...

that coconut pogram is not accurate, it says my ibook is 19 months old and it's only 14 and my battery is working as good as the day i bought at it's only at 61 percent

Maybe your iBook was sitting in warehouse for 5 months before you bought it.
