it just bother me that m$ has so much pride in their software, i.e.: their developer tattooed himself with a vista logo, yet they aren't listening to their customers. i haven't seen a single feature in vista that isn't available in osx already. yet people are so excited about vista, that really don't make any sense. i feel like we waited 5 years just for m$ to bring us to apple's level. doesn't that frustrate you guys at all?
Here's a news flash for you, and I hate to be the one bearing this news, but
for the most part, people DON'T CARE about Apple. Until the iPod, most people though the company had died, and even now probably the vast majority don't even realize that Apple makes any products other than the iPod.
Apple is a non-issue. It doesn't matter how superneatokeen OS X is, if it simply doesn't allow people to do what they want to do with their computers, and doesn't
allow them to run the software they want to run. I'm not talking about alternatives to what they are using...I mean, actually using the program they want to use. And besides, what exactly did Apple do? Glop a fruity effeminate idiot-proof GUI on top of a BSD subsystem. Woopdie-doo. So, Microsoft could glop their explorer shell on top of a BSD-based system, add some irrelevant little widgets and swooshy effects everywhere, annoying bouncing icons, a neato search feature that I'd personally never use because I have this crazy skill called "organization", and give everything a creamy glaze, and they would be touted as the most innovative OS creator on the planet. Hell, Linux is vastly more mediocre and difficult to use on the desktop, and it still has a higher installed base than Apple.
And don't even try that crap about "well people don't buy Macs because they are more expensive, or blah blah blah -insert elitist crap". By that same logic, no one on the planet would be purchasing iPods, because they are more expensive and have less features than comparable players. Yet they sell like hotcakes. If people
WANTED Apple computers, they'd buy them. And I'm not talking about the mindless lemmings on forums such as this one that get hard-ons over a few screenshots then plaster a few days that they "Switched!!11ONE!!' to their little craptastic Mac Mini or whatever...then turn around 3 months later and try to pawn the POS on eBay. I, and everyone else, care about the features of Vista simply because
the platform we prefer (and you, based on your devart profile) is getting features we want and can use. That's all that matters. Not that it's getting features that some non-issue OS has had for awhile.
