Note: Editing the registry can cause system instablilty, I cannot be held responsible if your system becomes unusable. I strongly suggest you backup the following keys before applying any changes to your registry:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ThemeManager
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Colors
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

Are you someone who likes the look and feel of the Windows Classic theme? Do you use the classic Windows 2000 logon style and wish you could get rid of the bloated Luna theme and replace it with Windows Classic theme? Well now you can!

I've created two registry files to change your logon screen theme from Luna to Windows Classic, one file changes the theme and the other reverses it. But, one registry key needs to be manually edited.

First download the attachment then extract its contents. Then run the "Classic.reg" to apply the classic borders, then open your registry editor (Run -> "regedit"). Navigate to:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ThemeManager

Then edit the key named "DllName" from:

%SystemRoot%\Resources\themes\Luna\Luna.msstyles

To:

%SystemRoot%\Resources\themes\Windows Classic.theme

To undo the effects of the .reg files, simply open the "Undo.reg" file then navigate to the same key above and change it from:

%SystemRoot%\Resources\themes\Windows Classic.theme

To:

%SystemRoot%\Resources\themes\Luna\Luna.msstyles

You need to log off or reboot to see the changes. Enjoy!
