My Brisbane Australia New Year photos taken with my new camera a Canon 350D

It was totally packed at South-Bank (place across the river from Brisbane city where my shots where taken from) so it was hard to find a good place many of my photos had a speaker in the shot as they had speakers setup all the way along the boardwalk.




On the above photo you can see a light trail on the right side of the photo this puzzled me for a while but I now think it was caused by the lights on one of several planes that where circling the area for some reason.

Took some shots using my Fz5 during the new years event in my country. The first time i used the fireworks mode on my camera.


Two shots i took using HDTV mode.


A panorama shot i sticked together.

Great to see the fireworks pic’s from around the world keep them coming.
Times like these bring much happiness lets hope the world can stay that way.

Now before everyone says its over-exposed, noisey and wrong on lots of levels, I like this. Its in the same style as those very very old photos I've seen.



I really love this one. Early fisherman getting his first fishing go in for the new year. Liverpool in the background, the sun light on the Mersey. It just fitted nicely into place. Now the reason why I got up early was because I suddenly remembered last night that the BBC Northwest team wanted pics of New Year. The sun dawning on 2006 I thought would be good. So I got this shot and sent it in, and I was just watching tv and it was on TV!!! They actually said, "or capturing the sunrise like Peter Carr." ON TV! Couldn't believe it. One of my resolutions was to push my photography more, to up the pimping of it. Well job done

I also sent in a shot from the fireworks, while it wasn't technically taken on New Years day I have seen plenty of shots on TV that were never taken when they were supposed to be. That one was shown for ages! I was so happy seeing my sunrise shot blink past that I just couldn't believe they showed the fireworks one for as long as they did. So now I've got to top this by the end of 2006 or I won't have acomplished anything

i liked the colours on the 3rd picture! the sunrise and the fishing picture was awesome man...what camera did you use?

Canon 10D using a Sigma 10-20 for the fireworks and I think a Canon 28-105 for the sunrise and Canon 100-400 for the fisherman.

Those are some good fireworks guys. I didn't take any this year

nowhere near as good as the photos above but I took it yesterday when I was out and about.

wow, u managed to catch sunset! at least thats better than me, its sooo hard to get sunset...

Twas a sunny day for a change, so I grabbed my kit and went for a wander in Liverpool. I had a couple of shots in mind that I'd been wanting to do since I got my 10-20. Annoyingly because its so wide I kept getting flair, so I had to think and thankfully thinking gave me better shots

I like this concept that they are projecting a sound, their music sorta thing.



I remembered that you shouldn't set the shutter speed to less than your focal length. For most gigs I use about 1/50 since I want to capture nice sharp people. But this time I decided to try my 10-20 lens @ 10mm and use 1/10th. Sure you get motion blur, but you can also allow more light into the shot, which is handy.





An attempt at a funky angle. I never normally do this style, but I need to try it out.

Hi, yeah that was just me messing with the camera, getting used to it. Ive only had the camera a week lol. oh and its a very big jump up from a Sony DSC W12

Here's a few more ive taken today.

i added a Nikon 4T close up attatchment lens as well as a hoya close up filter +4 for my macro shots.

All those selects were post-produced using aperture... ummm...
Laptop: Straightened...slight saturation decrease
Basketball Net: Nothing
Stop Sign: Nothing
Basketball: Cropped...slight saturation increase to bring out orange
Lock: Monochrome Added
Rocks: Nothing

Was out with my camera and tripod Christmas eve



Got told to go by some official, because there was children around, I think next year I will bring a print of this with me. Anyway if I did want to take pictures of kids I would use a telephoto or a camera phone, so if they really want to stop people from taking photos of children, lock them away.

Some more shots i took within the last few weeks:

I got my scanner hooked up a few nights ago but it has some fingerprints on it and I need to clean thoes up before I scan a few prints.

Got bored from studying tonite and took some shots.

University of Toronto @ Mississauga campus..

That last one is cool, but it seems a bit soft.
