When I first recieved my 7610 I set a a lock code on it so that whenver there is a change of SIM card I would need to input a lock code, I did this so if anyone stole my phone it would render it useless as they couldn't get into it. Today I got a new SIM card and cannot get into my phone (oh the irony). So is there anyway of bypassing the phone lock code?

*If anyone is thinking of posting useless crap like "oh you stole the phone", please refrain. You will be just wasting my time.

TIA

I'm not sure how to do that, but if no one here knows, the good folks here should be able to help you. (Great site for all kinds of phone related things BTW...)

There should be a default unlock code for the phone you maybe able to get from the carried or Nokia.I had this same issue and I called Nokia and they were very helpful. After about 10 minutes of talking wit them I got it unlocked

If you put the original SIM card back in, can you not "Restore Defaults" to remove it ?

I doubt it would work, but it's what i'd try !

Is it a phone on a contract? If so take the phone handset, along with proof of purchase to a store that deals with your contract provider. They should be able to do the business for you.

If it was an unbranded handset it may be worth looking into picking up a datacable and trying to find some third party security software which should display all the codes for you on your PC.

The default lock code in nokias is 1234, or 12345, can't remember which. Anyway you could try.
It's in the manual. If you changed it... I don't know confused.gif

Put it in wrong 3 times, ring ya phone company, get ya puk code, and it will ask you to set a new code.

It's not the PIN he's talking about. It's a lock code of the mobile phone itself, regardless the SIM card. There is an option, you can set the phone to lock itself when a different SIM card (than the previous one) is inserted.
This way you can screw potential thieves when they attemp to use the phone with their own SIM cards.

Ohh that one. Thats a SIM lock that your provider has to remove. If you put i on yourself, you'll have to ring the provider and give them your IMEI.

Or pay the various online services who do unlocking.

wouldnt work - because to reset factory settings you have to enter the phone unlock code tongue.gif

call nokia, explain whats happened - i phoned them, gave them my IMEI, they then phones bt cellnet (yes it was ages ago) to verify that i was in fact the owner, and they gave me a 12-14 digit code begining with *# or something, and it just said "Phone lock removed" and that was it!

Oh my days. Do you even know what he's talking about. It's not a SIM LOCK. It's a PHONE LOCK.
Thats set on the phone as part of the 7610 Security.

Best thing to do is to try default code which is 12345. Hope that you haven't changed it from the default. Failing that if you have a Data Cable then I can give u an app that can reveal the Security Code.

He will still need to know the code if he wants to turn it off and use a different sim card at any other time.
