Hey, I'm wondering if there are any mountain bikers out here. I'm looking to upgrade to a better bike this year. My budget will be in the 500-600 range. I dont want a full suspension, but I do want disc brakes. I prefer a bike without Shimano components. Nothing against them, just want to try non shimano. I was wondering if you guys could recommend the best bike with the best components within my price range. I've been looking at this bike Specialized Hardrock Comp Disc but some of the reviews I've read are worrying me.

Have a Norco Sasquatch myself, 2004 model, awesome bike. Has Shimano components however. I think it should fit your price range, maybe a bit over.
