If you already have VIP 2.1 installed, install 3.0 over it in Safe-Mode. I uninstalled 2.1 first and had a lot of problems with icons. I reinstalled 2.1 then 3.0 over the top of 2.1 all in Safe-Mode and all is fine now. I didn't install any of the options as of yet. The installer is very easy to use and all of the options can be chosen individually. This is a list of files changed.

If you have already ran the v3.0 patch and notice some of your icons have changed back. This may be why. Microsft has released KB921398 also known as MS06-045 on Windows Update. As part of this update is a new shell32.dll 6.0.2900.2951. This means all of the icons in shell32.dll will change back to XP. If this happens you will have to run the patch again in Safe-Mode to change the icons back to Vista.

Did you install and uninstall in safe mode?
Please don't respond in this topic, but via the bug reporter application. I can't check the forums that much as my mail and the topic gets unclear if everyone posts their problems here.

This is a list of files changed.
Is that the complete list of files that have been modified by *all* versions of Vista Icon Pack?
Quote - (JustinT9669 @ Sep 14 2006, 23:11)
Does that just extract the modified files to a folder or does it actually install them, overwritng the XP system files?

the Devlopers pack is just resourses (images and icons) from vista. it doesnt modify anything, it just extracts to a folder.

I installed it and I love it. But my bin, my computer etc. on my desktop won't change icon?
My folder icons didn't change either.
How do i make them "update", so all icons got their new vista icon?
I get the right icons in safe mode, but not in normal windows mode?

Anyone know it this will work on SP3? I have Vista Icon Pack v3 System Patch (VIPv3_SP.exe) installed on my computer with SP2 but I don't want to upgrade until I find a icon system patch for SP3.
works fine on SP3, had to re-apply it as SP3 changed all the system files back to the XP looking originals.

Can somebody upload/post a mirror to this? JoeJoe's site is down (so most of the links posted over the Internet are dead) and I can't find it anywhere. The funny thing is that I installed this two weeks ago on another PC, but I didn't think I would be needing the system patch anymore.
Please, please, I beg you: just a tiny, little mirror of this pack

This is an awesome pack, thank you! However, I am having a few issues with it. I am curious, has anyone had any of the similar issues:
1) I occassionally get an error message that appears something is trying to run the cmd.exe command... will get a screen next time I see it.
2) I am getting a lot of "not a valid win32" application error messages... I am running WinXP SP3 x32, and primarily I get the error messages when I attempt to open up a text file I had stored on my desktop.
3) The main goal I got for this was to replace the battery indicator, I didn't realize it would do that but it did so I am thankful. Unfortunately though, it does not appear to be displaying the battery correctly like it did with Vista... it will show me the outline of the vertical battery, however there are no blue bars to display how much battery % is left. Is this a known issue?
Thanks!

This pack is pretty old and has a lot of problems, especially with SP 3. Use VistaMizer instead!!
