I've been trying to find and 've been waiting for a just simple gadget, showing the album art (cover CD) of the song that I"m currently playing in Media Player..
So far I've found a high-tech advance media player gadget, which can display your libraries, play videos, have a mini preview, etc etc..
I just want a simple gadget that displays the album art (no controller needed on the gadget) is such gadget exist?
Similar like
http://closetosoftware.com/ (CD Art Display)

Where did you find the "high-tech advance media player gadget, which can display your libraries, play videos, have a mini preview, etc etc.."??
Unfortunatley, it appears that many Gadget builders aren't posting their work on the
actual Sidebar Gadgets website at Microsoft.com.
Thanks!

I've looked into it and i cant find a way to read the current playign track from Media Plyer. Brandon Fuller made a now playing plugin which i could base the gadget on and make in about an hour but he charges $10 for the plugin needed and i doubt he'd be willing to give it away free for this gadget.
So unless you maybe emailed him and beg i can't think of a way to do it, sorry.

LoL..beg.. don't think that will work.. imagine if 10000 people beg him
That album art works on almost all players except Media Player :{..the new one has a support.. but I've tried and couldn't get it to work, so I switched to Winamp just because of this.. not that it's a bad move

Im sure there will be some for that soon, it's pretty easy to interface with the itunes interface. I would port one over but i dont have itunes to test on.

There's already one there on the Windows Gadget site that displays album art for music being played in iTunes. I can't get the link right now because I'm at work. I'll link it when I get home.
The gadget for iTunes is located
here.

Oh, it's the software I linked at my 1st post (CD Album Art?). The latest has a WMP11 support, but you need to install a dll, put it somewhere, etc.. I tried that but didn't work or maybe it's just me doing it wrong..
Well I'm very happy to use the CD Album Art Widget, and "reposition" it to the Vista sidebar so it really looks like its own gadget lol (not sure cpu/memory usage wise, whether it's better than a built-in gadget)

I made a gadget to interface with audio scrobbler which retrieves your album art from amazon.

ok but how long does it take to update.. I mean if I am listing to Madonna 1 sec and then swaps over to Fallout Boys the next will it update immediately? Or do I have to wait till 30secs or even longer in the song for it to change?

there is a massive delay in the retrival of the album art

Indeed there's a big delay, but currently you're not going to get better. You can either have album art for songs your playing in WMP with a 2minute delay. Or you can have album art for a seperate sidebar instance of media player with about a 3 second delay.
You cant get instant album art for media player in a gadget yet.

I love it, and yes everything is working...
One request I have - Could you make it so that the album art is huge when not docked to the sidebar? I have awesome 500x500 pixel images for all my album art. It would rock to have a scalable option...
thanks

You could modify the CSS style sheets manually to do that if you wish. I'd need graphics to do that though, and i dont have any graphics for making a 500x500 gadget unless you'd be willing to do them.

I was also looking for something that displayed 500x500 album art and tried to edit your gadget but the result was pixelated I guess it's because it's retrieving images from folder.jpg (200x200) instead of the mp3 tags. So what I ended up with was a 260x260 background with a 200x200 album display. I'm not good at coding it was basically trial and error, I swapped out the Milky Flavor with a background from another gadget. I'm pleased with the results however I really want to make the buttons look more like wmp is there a way to do highlighted and pressed buttons? Anyways thank for this awesome gadget I hope you don't mind me fiddling with it...

The art is retrieved from the folder.jpg or Amazon, i don't know how to get it from mp3 tags yet. It looks like your editing it properly so unless i can get it to use mp3 tags i guess i cant fix it.
With buttons you'd have to do that manually, editing the .htm
I didnt really put too much work into the buttons as they'll always be on your start menu anyway, as you can see in your screen shot

ljames28, i was using your app a lot until the new 2.6 update, after which point its no long working...

For future reference, whenever WMP crashes (if you cut the power without shutting down for example) it'll automatically disable all plug ins so that can also cause issues.
