Heres the deal:

If I go for a HD camcorder then my budget is 1,100$. What is the best HD camcorder for this budget? I don't want a DVD camcorder and I am going to be editing it heavily on a windows machine. Also I would prefer a HDD camcorder if it can edit well.

If I go for SD then my budget is 950$... Same things apply like no DVD, preferably HDD and editing heavily.

So what recommendations do you guys have?
I need one by the 20th of March so if I have to pre-order it then I will!

Thanks

I'm in the same boat as you, trying to get one before June.

I know Canon has a nice consumer HD camera coming out, http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/02/07/canon...ed-the-monster/ might be something to look at.

As for the SD one, they're cheaper, most prob have more features than your basic HD camera and can hold more video... but you have to ask your self, SD over HD? How long do you plan on keeping the camcorder, or you like me and replace devices yearly.
Crazysah
I would replace the camera between a year and a half and two years or if it broke before that.

So can you answer my questions?
Crazysah
So people?
Crazysah
So anyone? Any suggestions?

Stop bumping your goddamned threads. People will answer or not, it's not up to you.

I have a choice between 2 camcorders now:

Canon HV20 or the Sony HDR-HC7

Maybe these one too:
Sony HDR-HC5 or Sony HDR-SR1.

Out of these... which would you people recommend?
Crazysah
I really need a answer soon.

i would go with the Cannon as i have seen that Cannon has better Optics and Plus sony HDD cameras well use priotery software/format and is a hassle to grab your videos off and just start editing so go with the HDD Cannon

Any idea the exact date when it will be shipping?
Crazysah
Also... do any of you know whether the Sony HDR-HC7 will see a price drop by mid-April>?
