it always depend on your needs, budget and personal preference. Otherwise, every persons would have the same camera. A D2Xs hehe

i just recently bought a Canon S3 IS from sears.ca, i think they have it listed at $499, but they will price match, and FS or BB usually has it onsale for $440. It's a beautiful mid level camera, has ALOT of features that an SLR has and even feels like a mini SLR, i wouldn't trade mine for the world. The IS (image stabilization), 12X optical zoom and Super macro is just sweet.
just checked.. staples has it on sale for $429.. price match it like i did.

aside from the SD700IS.. none of them can even come close to competing with the S3 IS. The Elph is just the sensor processor... the SD line has the Elph and the Powershot line has the Digic II i think...
