The main news tab on the front page is showing the software news for me. The software tab also shows the software news. The main news is therefore not accessible. Gamers news shows fine.

Are you using Flock?
I have that problem too, but only when I'm browsing with Flock. Works fine in Firefox.

Scroll to the bottom of the main page and you'll see this:

Adjust to your liking. You may be showing all (or it could be another bug).

Whenever I open www.neowin.net it always opens the Software news
and if I click Main it's the same...
what's going on ? I can't access the main news anymore...

Go to Main section, bottom of the page and click the button 'Show selected' you may have done this on the software page at one point which changed your 'homepage' to the software page instead.

that was it, thank you
Hello,
I cannot access the main news, when i navigate to Neowin it automatically loads the software news, and when i click 'Main' it also loads software even when the URL ends: /index.php?category=main
I am using Firefox 2 RC1, but it also did this on previous betas etc, but i very much doubt it is my browser....

Go to the bottom of the page on Main and select Main from the dropdown with the desired amount of posts.
This happens when you set it to Software. That should fix it
Thank You
So for some reason yesterday, I clicked on something and now I can't fix my main Neowin landing page. Normally when I go to neowin.net the "main news" displays. Since yesterday, I cannot get the main news to display, it defaults to "Software" news when I load the site, and even when I click on "Main" it just stays as the software news.
Call me a newb after 4 years on Neowin, but how in the world do I get this fixed?! (Clearing all browser cache/etc. did nothing).
Thanks!

At the bottom of the page is a drop down, allowing you to select which news to display. You probably have this set to 'All' instead of 'Main'

Every time I click the Neowin logo or the Main tab, it takes me to the Software page.
Can see the main news story's if I hover over the main tab though.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will see a drop down menu which will allow you to select the main news again.

Is it possible you have set the main page to also show gaming news?
Scroll to the bottom of the page and find the dropdown box there, change it to say Main, and the page will only show main news.
Hehe, when I saw this thread I though I had misplaced a few news postings and got worried Neobond would come around and smack me in the back of the head

Hi and hello.
For two or three days now I am getting exactly the same content on the main page as on the software page. I've tried flushing cache, reloading, using other computers... no difference. It clearly loads the main page (color scheme is correct), but the news are the ones from the software page.
So... now what ?

If using the selector at the bottom of the page doesn't resolve it, can you post a screenshot of the page as you see it?

After pressing the "Show selected" button it finally showed the main news again, that did the trick. I reloaded the page and (at least for now) it keeps showing the main news on the main page. I'll keep checking on this. Shouldn't have happened in the first place, no ?

We offer a lot of options on how to customize the front page (many of which are probably unknown to the majority of our visitors). Unfortunately an errant click can do some weird things.

go down to the buttom of the page and there should be a dropdown box to set it from memory
That box doesn't work, it keeps changing back to "All" after the page is refreshed for me, yes cleared cache etc..

A couple days ago I notices that Neowin is "behaving" strangeon my computer. I don't seem to be get to mainpage news anymore, instead I get the software news, but in blue site colors.
I put up a screenshot on my site, feel free to check for yourself. This only happens in Opera. (v 9.10 most recent), wkile in IE everything is fine.
http://www.substructurenorth.net/neowin/neowin_weird.jpg To the left is the opera, bugged neowin, to the right is the normal neowin in IE.
Anyone who has had the same experience or can explain how to get the normal frontpage back?
For I a can live with that, even if I am very fond of reading the news on neowin on a regular basis. But it's really irritating in the long run.
:-D
Cheers.

The trouble is a lot of people don’t read pinned threads... well I don’t seam to anyway... it’s the same thing there over and over and you just get used to ignoring them... then when one is added/removed I don’t notice

I was just about to post about this but I somehow noticed this topic.

I say it's a bug. Every time it happens, I clear my neowin cookies, which fixes it temporarily, but it happens again and again. Using FF2.
