I need some inspiration on taking photos of buildings, especially as i'll be in Venice next week

Can anyone provide tips on how to take good images of large buildings (palaces etc), such as good angles etc?

Well ideally, you want a tilt and shift lens, but not everyone can really afford one of them. Try to get a sense of scale in your pictures by either including people or going right backwards to show the surroundings.
Also, focus on the details. If you've got a telephoto lens you can do some nice closeups of interesting patterns.

I agree. A 12-24mm f/4 and a 70-200mm f/2.8 would be my combinaison

Wide angle and low perspective works really well. Just get down on your knees or something like that.

go further back then normally but dont tilt your camera forward or backward to fit all the building in cause it causes some sort of distortion or something.
