k, i have a 98, and when i open the computer, it says the following files are missing:
C:\windows\himem.sys
C:\windows\dblbuff.sys
C:\windows\ifshlp.sys

what do i do? i still want it to at least work, even though its old...

can you extract them from your windows 98 cd?

nvm, i found how to fix it on the internet...

just fix 98 up and use it as a server and thats it.98's life is basicaly gone.

I can understand why people choose to use Windows 98 etc, but the only reason for that which I can think of, is that the system you're using just can't handle anything better.

There ya go. Win 98 existed for that community only because people are stuck with it and can't afford to upgrade. The bad news is, MS ceased support for it last year. They can't support it forever; it has to end somehow.

I still have it on some my older computers. It's not that I can't afford to upgrade, I just have some older computers I keep around too.
