I used Vista Boot Logo Generator, and make a new boot screen. I enabled "NoGuiBoot" and copied the winload.exe.mui to the C:\Windows\System32\en-US folder. But when I boot Vista, nothing changed. It still shows the "Aurora" screen with the "Loading Windows Vista" at the bottom. Any ideas as to why it's not working?

definatly sure u properly made the bootscreen?

You aren't running Vista x64 by any chance are you? There is currently no support for customized boot screens for x64. That's my first guess. If not, try again by taking ownership of the files and using an administrator account.

Just noticed this too, if you aren't using x64 trying copying it to this folder instead:

"X:\Windows\System32\Boot\en-US" just one folder off but I'm pretty sure that's the correct folder... X: is of course your Local HDD with whatever OS is installed.

I'm running 32-bit vista, and i'm sure i made the screen correctly. I tried copying the file to either directory and still no change. Weird...

Yup, I'm having the same problem. Running vista ultimate X86 SP1 with latest updates. All I see is the aurora background while booting up for some reason, I used the Vista Boot Logo Generator too.

Yeah, it's because of SP1. I used to use the boot logo generator and it stopped working when I installed SP1. For some reason, SP1 uses a different boot screen (and probably implements it differently) than pre-SP1. I stopped caring though because the SP1 boot screen is nice looking (IMO) so I had no desire to change it. Sorry, but I don't know if anyone's found an updated way of doing it.

I don't think theres a way to change the Vista Bootscreen without doing nasty file hacks (which wouldn't play nice with X64)
