51 point AF!?!? ohmy.gif

D300 seems to be the better body compared to the D40 but it's also $500 more.

But still..

922k pixel LCD. 6fp/8fps (battery/ac) buffer, 14 bit, 100% frame coverage!

Sad it's not a full frame like the D3 (though that's $5000 compared to the $2500 5D).

Competition is good though! smile.gif

it seems like it nikon doesn't make camers w/ ISOs lower than 200? Correct me if i'm wrong.

HDMI output!? That's crazy.

So are all of nikon's new cameras having the AF motors put in the lens, so that the old lenses won't AF? Or was that just the D40/80?

no, even the 80 can drive lenses without motors. It is just the D40 that can't.

eh, I'm only 5th on the D300 waiting list on my fav store wink.gif
And I'm happy that the D300 isnt full frame! FF's are way too tricky and cost you more since you have to change your lens. Plus, having the 1.5 factor is nice with tele lens smile.gif

whoo /me sits and waits

Very nice announcements - I was hoping they'd reveal more AF-S lenses - too bad they didn't throw in a update of the 50mm prime with AF-S, I'm kinda waiting for that one as I'm shooting with a D40 (and thus on a tight budget wink.gif)

New zoom lenses are great but unfortunately out of my budget.. sad.gif

Hopefully Nikon will someday release 300mm or 400mm F4.0 with VR and 70-200mm F4.0 with VR..

But anyway D300 will be my next upgrade at the beginning of next year.. smile.gif

I dont get why not ISO 100. But these do look like great cameras. I still learning my XTI CANON. Very tempting when it is time to upgrade.
crazzy88ss
what does an iso of 25,600 get you?

I had considered making the jump to Canon when they announced the 40D, but now I am concentrating on getting the D300. Even then, the D200 will be a lot more affordable if I decide the D300 is too expensive.

hmmmm shifty.gif  hehe
The thing I'll like the most I think is the ISO written in the viewfinder as info all the time and also the 100% viewfinder coverage! wheeeeee

Man I love the d300! I really really want to see what 256000 ISO looks like.

Just like we all pooed in our pants when we heard about the 10fps 1dmk3, I think I will wait until people have them in their hands before I make real judgements. I hope it doesn't have something like an AF issue.

ugh I want a d300 soo bad... hmmmmm.

The D300 won't have ISO 256,000. Only the D3 will have it.

D200 goes down to 100 Iso....200 is more than fine tho, and its very smooth....so there you have it..I'm ****ed cuz i just got my d200 about 3 months ago....I would get the d3 for my model shooting, but I dont need all the features it has...will definately go for the d300 tho.
