I agree with bawx there's too much going on, a little in your face. But it looks well put together. thumbs_up.gif

I think you got the technical capability but not the design style - how about you team up with someone and I'm sure we will have a winner on our hands smile.gif

The windows, taskbar and shellstyle are clean and void of complicated details, I can't quite understand which part you are refering to or does the screenshot seem too cluttered to people, maybe you can give me some specific areas for improvement? Thanks!

Yea, It's maybe the screenshot. But also that red colour on top of the black with that kind of sharp gradient, it's just a weird choice imo.

Personally I don't think black shiny themes very nice, Luna Element being the exception, I wouldn't use that style myself.

The style focuses on effects where everything lights up (powered state), has clickable animations and some depth.
The screecshot just does not do it justice.

OK, I get it. Next time I will do simple screenshots like others, I just thought people would prefer more transparency in the preview. I do think the red text on the caption is a bit off myself, so I'm gonna change it when I next do an update. Thanks for the feedback! smile.gif

Taste is more often then not divided.
It looks quite nice once you look past the overly cluttered screenshot and download the actual style.
I'd change perhaps certain things such as the start button which stands out from the rest of the design.
Anyways, good stuff dude!

I was also wondering if I should provide the .psd to the start button so people can customize their own text or logo into it. Would that be a good idea?

I dnt think the red matches it at all, the start button looks out of place and nasty, same with the captions! Also the title writing with the red and grey shadow thing is ugly aswell! It could work well maybe as an all black glossy theme cause the black looks alrite but we hav many of a black glossy themes! Wat theme won u $1k? i'd like to see it smile.gif

I agree with the caption text needing change, but I'dd better collect more feedback to do more changes in a later update.

It's the TuneUp Style Contest, though I regretted deciding to enter a few days from the deadline, so it was rushed and the concept was pirated from this style, just souped down.

They could well be, they do styles for those customize softwares.

I dunno, some parts I like (start button/taskbar), but everything (including those parts I like) are just too big and fat. Personally I like thinner themes that are classy but stay out of the way.

This is a standard size theme at the moment.

I've edited the caption text as suggested by some of the guys. Thanks for the feedback. smile.gif

I don't worry about it, I messed up with an ugly over cluttered screenshot 1st time round so the response is to be expected. Screenshot=Initial reaction, so I've learnt. smile.gif

I guess we both hav diferent tastes then, cause to tell the truth it looks like its just stole the taskbar bar etc frm a standard Vista theme......which we hav loads of then added these badly photoshopped buttons!
Naughty Dog
I think it is perfect for what it has so far. Could you add some glowing min/max/exit buttons since some ppl using my machine are n00bs and havent a clue where each button is. The start button would be better if it said begin or start and it would be perfect for my taste and also if it was ported to windowblinds.

oops.. you must have really not tried the vs then, to say it's identical to the flat angled, centered 2 toned taskbar and depthless buttons of Vista. but that's ok, I already have many of such posts in this thread.

Thank you very much! smile.gif Rich, was suggesting the same thing on the buttons, so I may get around to doing that hopefully. smile.gif

The buttons aren't that good in my opinion, other than that this theme is good looking imo. You should make the buttons smaller and/or more visible. Keep it up man.

i guess what people are trying to say is it's good but it looks a bit bold and has too much of the "photoshop effect" if you wanna describe it that way, it's nothing nagtive but it just gives that aura of just throwing together basic photoshop effects on top of each other and they gives that kinda chunky effect.

Did you ever actually use it? It is quite useable and good looking in its latest incarnation. The only thing I don't like is the toolbar background which looks crap in Firefox.
Digix
it's not my cup of tea so i haven't i was just giving and insight on why people are probably calling it ugly.
Berserk87
its ok..i wouldnt use it but its decent.

i needs some smoothing out/blending.

also, the theme that won 2k... i think its hideous, and its kinda stupid that the 1st place winner was horrible mac ripoff theme

not saying mac theme is horrible, it was a horrible rip of the mac theme.

I don't use firefox so I apologise if it doesn't work properly in it, it's very usable in all other applications I use though. Thanks.

I was looking forward to some new feedback on the new version but it's my bad for continuing this thread, so I can understand why you're running with the old comments, though the previous theme and this may as well be 2 different themes. I agree the previous one needed improvements. Don't worry though, I'm not so much bothered about people not liking it, I'm just looking for areas to improve, but sadly little constructive advice have been offered in this forum. Thanks.

as in every graphic looking like a smooth curve? ok, that's a thought, thanks, but that would be a design preference. maybe in another attempt I will do more smooth gradients for that rounded look.

I think at that time, most people are still fooling around with Vista theming, (I didn't know how to change half of the appearance in Vista, even now most vista themes are still too vista-y) so I guess the 1st half decent theme wins, which was the mac. They must have had like a thousand Vista themes in some other color submitted, so I guess anything with the slightest originality caught the judges attention. For the record, I didn't think my theme would get anywhere as it was last minute decision to try my hand at vista theming. I can only take the blame for my own sloppy effort 3 days before the deadline. I apologise then, if you think it's required of me. Sorry.
gwash
Dude, why are you apologising? It's always easier for those sitting on the bench to go, "I could have hit that homerun!" They don't know sh|t.

I tried your theme, and it's technically faultless. The user interface integrates itself into all my programs seamlessly which not all themes can be said for.
I don't go for black themes though, but your windows explorer and shellstyle are amazing.
Captain_Wang
I don't really believe there are necessarily objective aesthetics wih things like this but that just doesn't do it for me. The red looks washed out and the black is just too dark to be usable. As others have said, you have the know how but you need someone with an artistic flare to guide you, for now at least.
