not big into opera, but wasnt this the kestrel or whatever that was supposed to make opera load pages properly?

im gonna try this out, the main things that are keeping me away from opera is the way it loads the pages, the stupid sidebar, and the torrert integration.
edit : i like it more then the last time i tried it out, dosnt seem to load any faster then firefox to me. and some text mouseovers arnt working.
but its an alpha...

i'm running the 64 bit build here on a linuxmachine and its really a lot faster than opera 9.23 and firefox .
it's amazing .....

Seriously... I've always used Firefox for it's speed but this Opera build is amazing speedwise.
Downloaded and upgraded my old version. The smooth scrolling wasn't really working properly and some of my custom menu entries are blank. But other than that it seems really good and a bit quicker.
Sweet, can't wait to try this. Their preview page is promising.

any way it can keep my settings?
By doing it manually... opera6.adr = bookmarks etc. Look in the profiles catalog in document & settings - > username - > application data - > opera
It's alpha so it's not recomonded to install it over your previous installation.

Running on a 256k RAM machine, this is a godsend. Firefox would crawl to death with more than 20 tabs open. Opera somehow manages to handle them gracefully. And I can actually FEEL the difference in 9.50 compared to 9.2.
On better machines, the differences might not be as noticeable.
Nice alpha build, no problem for me with this build.
I am using Opera 9.5 Alpha now...

Is there a Mac release? I've tried to access
http://www.opera.com/alfa.dml but it just displays a blank page. Does someone have a direct link to the DMG file?

Not to mention it finally works with Bank of America...

It's blazing fast, for sure, but there are some issues for me still:
1. The "windows standard" skin looks worse than ever in Vista and the default skin uses too many non standard graphics for my taste.
2. Still no inline spell check?
Nice alpha build but…
Really disappointed with many features are removed in this build (Kestrel branch).
- View bar
- Full shell context menu in transfers tab
- No more size in bytes and the content-type in the download dialog (lacks information)
- Missing tab shortcuts
+
- No improvements to RSS reader
- Smooth scrooling (I don’t like it in this build only)

Yeah, same problems as Darken here. I really use the view bar. I have ithidden with a button to activate it when I need. I know I can adjust it to a different bar, but what was the purpose of removing that bar? I say get rid of the start bar first personally

It is alpha though, so I am confident most of that stuff will be addressed

View bar ?? is it Start Bar in Appearance ?
I really love this alpha release :
Firstly: it displays Vietnamese smoothly ^^!
2- I like Synchronizing ( Think about make a step back with browser's bookmark ( no more del.icio.us ) )
3- Love search history through URL bar ( Which I wish in Opera forum ) . I use AutoComplete in Firefox and make a request in Opera forum. And they make it true. Thanks

so far, that's my only issue/problem, too. it was simple to get around in earlier versions, but now it seems to be harder to get rid of.

I woulnd't blame that entirely on Opera., since google Writer worked perfectly in Opera, and Spreadhseets while not perfect, they worked. coincidentally, around the time Google got more and more into firefox, not only was the ability to skip the browser compatibility check removed form the google apps, but even if you camouflaged Opera as any other browsers the apps where now compeltely broken.
It's almost as if a code was introduced to them that would make sure they broke on Opera.... but who knows.. it could have ben a coincidence.. afterall Google does no evil..

i've always thought that Opera was great at memory management, or at the least better than Firefox.
Using it for the last 2 hours without reboot, maxxing out at 10 tabs which have been reduced to 5. Have not touched the mail portion. Right now i'm sitting at 180MB of usage in Vista, which is roughly the max i've ever seen for Firefox.

It shows up as soon as you have an account for anything hooked up to Opera, from mail, to IRC, etc. Just go to Tools->Mail and Chat Accounts, and make sure that list on the left is entirely empty.
As for me, I have to deal with it, as there is one IRC channel I visit, and it's easier using Opera than a seperate IRC client.

CODE
opera -notrayicon
That's what I do in Linux.
I think maybe the speed is an individual experience? This version loads page slower than Firefox 2.0 on my computer. I really like Opera, it's much smoother, but I can't use a slower browser.
