The greatest game on Earth starts a new season tonight. I have signed up for Center Ice for this season. The game I wanted to watch is not on tho (Ducks vs Wings). But Sens and Leafs will work.
Lets Go Rangers!!

Yeah!!!! And for each game they've played, the three stars were from Montreal also!
Man... Let's head for a perfect season... 82 wins, and 246 stars on the board!!!

Raycroft played okay but I'm looking forward to Toskala taking charge.
The Leafs seem to alway suffer these types of defeats. If we enter the third period with a one goal lead then the game is as good as lost.

Yes man yes! People here in Montreal don't really like Koivu that much because he's been here for 10 years and yet he only knows about 20 french words. Not to mention that the crowd here is hard on ppl with less than 80 points in aregular season.
About Huet, he did atleast 3 saves in the first game. He's good yet not the best and very lucky. I hope Murhpy continus to stay off Christobald's (Huet) back.

the leafs played good for the first 50 mins of the game. if they would have scored a couple of times on the pp, then they wouldn't have lost the game.
Well the Leafs new top line worked well last night. Now for the rest of the team to pick up the pace.

The Sens beat my Leafs playing only 10 minutes out of 60. I hope Toskala brings his A game if they plan on playing the full 60 this time around.
Either way I'm glad hockey is back and the new jerseys suck.

Avs lost 4-0 last night against nashville, ouch!
Can someone explain to me why the NHL would have interest in movement of Nashville to KANSAS CITY? Cant the team be moved to a more hockey-loving town like Hamilton? Winnipeg? or Quebec???
The southeast division also needs implosion. Carolina? Florida? Washington? Atlanta? Do these teams actually draw crowds? Tampa at least is in the top 5 in attendance each year...the other four are in the pooper.
Considering the NHL needs contraction, I say we disband Atlanta and Florida since they haven't won crap and dont have any superstars. Then move Washington to Hamilton and Carolina to either Winnipeg, Quebec, or Hartford.

Atlanta is a good team. I am not sure about their draw power in their city though. Other than that, Quebec could use another team, same with Winnipeg if possible. I could also see another team in the states, just not sure where... Seattle maybe?

That is brutal. I wonder what the market for hockey is like up there? Do you think it would be able to get the viewers?
It is too bad though, because tonight Montreal vs Toronto! And of course Montreal had better win after that terrible performance that got them kicked out of the playoffs.

Unfortunetly the market for hockey is not that big, despite the sucess of the Ducks-Kings games at the o2 arena. I hope people start showing an interest in hockey more, it's so much better than football (soccer).
I mean which would you rather hear about?

Jason Blake of the Toronto Maple Leafs issued the following statement following the team’s practice Monday at Air Canada Centre:
“This morning I shared with my teammates news that I was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. It is highly-treatable, and I have begun taking a pill on a daily basis that has proven to be very effective in controlling this cancer. The prognosis, and certainly the expectations of my physician, myself and my family, is that I will live a long, full and normal life.
“This situation will not impact my ability to live my life as I otherwise would, and will not affect my ability to perform at my highest level for the Toronto Maple Leafs. I’m looking forward to my first season with the Leafs and helping our club compete for the Stanley Cup.”
Statement from Maple Leafs team doctor Noah Forman regarding Jason Blake’s medical condition:
“Jason Blake has very recently been diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). This is a form of leukemia (blood cancer) which is a slow growing cancer of the white blood cells. It has an incidence of 500 new cases diagnosed each year in Canada.
“It is caused by an abnormal chromosome of cells in the body's bone marrow.
Jason is in no immediate danger, as he is in the chronic phase of the disease and has been assessed by a leading authority on CML at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto.
He has already started treatment which consists of an oral medication taken daily with low side effects.
“We have secured opinions from numerous CML specialists confirming that with this oral medication, most patients are well controlled and lead normal lives, doing all their normal activities. Jason will be able to continue to play fully with the team and will be monitored closely by both the team's physician and his CML specialist.”
SourceWow, poor guy. Hope he gets better.

His wife had a cancer scare six years ago when she was 8 months pregnant. The doctors told her she had thyroid cancer, they gave her a cesarean, removed the lump and then said... "Oh, turns out it wasn't cancerous after all". Doh!

Carolina is coming on strong. I've been saying it for a while, Carolina is going to bounce back strong from last season's poor play. They just beat the Sens and killed the Leafs.
We stole Carolina's home opener from under them, I expect Carolina to come out strong against Montreal in their home opener tonight.

Once again we had a 4-3 lead in the 3rd period only to lose 6-4. It's like deja-vu all over again.

Reffing was atrocious against the Canadiens.
Anyone catch the SJ/Bruins game? SJ ties it up with 38 seconds left. With 15 seconds left in the game, SJ clears the puck around the boards but it bounces off the ref and onto the stick of a Bruin which would set up for the game winning goal.

I've noticed a lot of ref mistakes not only in hockey lately. EPL, NFL, College football... etc. We can only hope it will get better.

I can't believe Flames surrendered a 4-0 lead! We need to tighten up our D. Also, amazingly enough, all 4 Avs goals went off of the skates or sticks of Flames' defensemen.
