How do I recreate this:

http://muzelmuh.deviantart.com/art/what-have-I-done-49079298

I know it's going to be a simple answer but I really can't see how they got the light on the face and body but the hair fades into the background. Unless, they took the picture, then rubbed out the background and filled it with black?

Thanks,
Peter

I think its more important for the photographer than post processing for this effect.

While I do agree with sundayx, you can achieve the same effect in Photoshop. Just make sure the background is a solid color and replace it in Photoshop with the color you want. If you look at the girls hair on the left side, it looks like they did that. But, like sundayx said, it's better to do it with the camera.

it has lighting on the face etc and solid background, the edges look like they were blurred in photoshop

Just use a single light source from above the camera, pointing down at the subject, then it won't light the black background.
(See the shadow on her eyes from her hair?)
