how do i install this Shift 0.5 Flux from LiveCD onto hard drive ?
hard drive setup simple 6g, all ext3, with 500mB swap,
already partitioned & fs-formatted.

there are no icons on flux desktop.

the menus offer nothing re: install

after doing # updatedb
i did a # locate inst
and saw:
. /usr/sbin/morphixinstaller
dated 2006 -12- 08th

i hesitate, since distro "Morphix" itself has been inactive since 2003 -09- 23rd.

This version of Shift Linux is intended to be a Live CD only. We do have an installer on the CD, however it is a very poor alpha build that does not do a very good job installing our system to the hard drive. We will find a new one with our next build.

Thanks!

Yes, Morphix sucks. *hides* Here's what everyone wanting to install Shift can try (this is not guaranteed to work at ALL, and if you mess up anything, lose any data or cause damage in any other way, we're not responsible).

Open up a Terminal, type in: sudo apt-get install gparted
Next, type: sudo morphixinstaller

Follow the steps closely. We know the Morphix Installer is buggy, and plan to have a new installer in a future version of Shift.
