Hello everyone, based on your thoughts, ideas, and personal preference...which version of KDE would you like to see included in Shift 0.6? I've said before that we'll go with KDE 4.0, but I've decided to let the community choose. The poll will close on January 22! Thanks for your input. Go Shift!
I'm not a KDE user, but from what I've read, KDE 4 has got it's fair share of problems. I think it would be unwise to release a (kinda

) new distro with a DE that is known to be a bit buggy and rough around the edges. My vote is for 3.5, at least until 4 is considered stable and complete.
Although I am really impressed with the changes in KDE 4.0. It is unstable compared to established KDE 3.5 IMO. A lot of icons were broken in KDE 4.0 or the icon remapping is not working right.

KDE 4.0 is really just a developer preview. It has all the framework in place but almost nothing works properly. If I were you, I would wait until KDE 4.1 which is supposed to actually work properly. Since all they need is to smooth the experience out, it is "supposed" to be released some time before the summer. I would wait and include it in Shift Linux 0.7. Another option would be to provide packages for the brave souls who like to live on the bleeding edge.

Why stick to the old 3.x when 4.0 is released (even if some have problems with minor KDE bugs)?
My vote: 4.0

I use GNOME for most purposes, but I think that we should try out the new KDE 4.

I think Shift can be the first distro to pull KDE 4.0 off nicely. Just get some of our own stuff in there, clean up, add config files, and make it work the way it should. No one else has yet
KDE 4
Why?
KDE 4 is easier to customize, and is quite nice. I personally like 4 more then 3.5.

Well, I think that our team is so good, we should be able to iron out many of the bugs and put KDE4 out is a VERY presentable version!
