Not bad.... a bit to much glass if you ask me......

Try something that does not look like vista at all. Base designs off window blinds skins (with out coping them) and make thinner cleaner lines. Also I think it may be cool if you base some designs off the old longhorn bulids....

Nice job on the concept pics! Looks quite reasonable.

Unfortunately - and this is no offense to your work - I hate Vista's Aero look, so I hope they make something more unified and usable with Windows 7.

Haha, i love the vista glass and i just hate the XP ui, can't use it anymore. I'm forced to put windowblinds on any XP user account i have, ever since i heard about it tongue.gif. Not that i use XP anymore anyway.

Yeah where did you get that wallpaper, it is rather amazing =]

David.

It actually looks nice, nice job. smile.gif Try making the window borders slimmer, too thick and I believe its one of things end users didn't like in Vista. I like the Gadgets especially the Media Player (which I hope will actually be back in for Win7) and the Alarm Clock. smile.gif
trekkie.
I want borderless windows.

I like. Now can we have the wallpaper?

Don't forget that Windows 7 will have a lot of touch features, so bare that in mind for your designs. Looking cool though smile.gif

The window titles are too large and the borders too thick.

I like simple and professional. The latest home-user Windows to do it correctly was Windows 2000. While XP and Vista have "Classic" themes - which I use, by the way - their default look seems bloated.

XP wasn't so bad. Eventually, people figured out how to hack the themes and make thinner start menus and window frames. I'm sure the same goes for Vista, but the fact that you need to modify the system in order for it to be professionally usable (or simply uncluttered) just doesn't sit right with me. It's like Windows wants you to know its there. With older versions and other operating systems, functionality was never sacrificed for the sake of eye candy.

Just my 2 cents.

STOP THE PRESSES!

That concept is just Vista...

And your 3D Window Manager, looks like it wouldn't do much good at all.

If 7 Looks like Vista, I will loose interest completley.

A new one what you think?

as long as they keep using kernel 6.1 which is what we have seen so far, it will be just like vista spX.... but once microsoft moves onto kernel 7 there will be some changes, maybe not in how it looks but definitely with the operating system.

There's a hidden settign in Vista that allows you to adjust the thickness of the windows borders, you can make them huge, or pretty much gone.

So you're saying XP was just a 2000 service pack ? you logic fails, there's more to an OS than just a kernel. and by your logic. 95% of Linux released are merely service packs since the linux kernel is still only version 2.4 . that's only two full versions yet ... tongue.gif

Windows 2000 Professional - NT 5.0
Windows XP - NT 5.1

Guess which one beat the crap out of the other and is still dominating the market.

Windows Vista - NT 6.0
Windows 7 - NT 6.1

I think history might be repeating itself.

Although I think Vista is doing fine from both a technical and sales perspective, you are definitely onto a trend here.

Windows 3.0 vs. Win3.1
Windows 95 (4.0) vs. Windows 98 (4.1)

I think persons are counting the versions wrong, Ed Bott based on his analysis has gotten it right.

A few people are wondering how you get to “the seventh version” and thus qualify for the Windows 7 moniker. I don’t know the answer definitively, but can easily get to that point if I count only members of the NT family with numbers attached to their names: Windows NT 3.1 (yep, that was the very first release), 3.5, 4.0, 2000, XP, Vista. That’s six, making the next release number 7. If you try to count using the consumer versions from the Windows 9X family (or the barely usable Windows 1 and 2 releases), you’ll quickly go mad.

factcheck: 2.6.27

(sorry, with today's political points all scrutinized by a "factcheck", I could not resist) tongue.gif
