You need x64 to use more than 3 gb of ram.

With 64 bit compiled apps would not be more faster to work with videos and games?

Drivers like divx wouldnt work better?

I tried installing 32 and 64 versions of vista and the 64 seems to be more responsive.

There are 64-bit apps out there. Almost any .NET 2.0 (or later) applications will be JIT compiled 64-bit at runtime. Examples of those are Paint .NET, my own Start++, and plenty of others.

There are lots of native code 64-bit apps too. SmartFTP has a 64-bit version. Zune 2.0 does as well. I'm sure there are plenty more as well.

Autodesk has been pretty big on 64-bit. 3dsmax and AutoCAD both have x64 versions.

Also, some games have been putting out 64-bit versions as well. HL2, for instance.
