Hi
1. Does Shift 0.6.2 KDE have an updater which will update the distro to the next version released?
2. Is it possible to install Shift 0.6.2 from a USB stick?
Many thanks
Sam

In answer to your questions:
1. Shift uses Apt (or Synaptic) and can be updated as any other debian based distro.
2. We have not specifically made a Shift distro for a USB stick (yet). It is in the plans, however.

You can keep KDE 0.6.2 up to date, however we won't support going from 0.6.2 to 0.7 without a fresh install, unless there's enough demand. It's a lot of work to prepare an upgrade like that, unfortunately.

Yeah, an
upgrade of Shift is a different story... at least for the present.
Don't want to take this thread off on a tangent, but just wondering what's going to happen when April comes? Is my Shift install going to offer to upgrade to Hardy Heron?

Currently, we plan to release our next version in about 6 months. We will look less like Ubuntu and much more customized. If plans change, we will let everyone know!
I may be mistaken, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if Shift is using Ubuntu's repos, then surely once Hardy is released my update manager will tell me, and ask if I want to dist-upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04, even though I'm using Shift. How's that going to work? Do we have to keep ignoring it? Unless the Shift wizards have done some jiggery-pokery so that it automatically ignores the update...?
You are probably right, however, we haven't moved that far into our newest version to speak about upgrades as of yet. But, we hold no secrets... so as soon as we decide on how we want Shift to handle this, we'll be the first to let you know. Promise!

Yeah, Shift will want to become Hardy

. If we had our own repository, then we could push updates, but we're sticking to Ubuntu for now.
