I bought the Fujifilm FinePix Z3 for £120 in October 2007.

It was recently damaged and the one who damaged it said he would pay for a new Z3 for £83.

I can get an F40fd for around £100.

Is it worth spending the extra £20?

Are there any areas the Z3 beat it in? (apart from the looks)

Should I go for a Z10 instead? (they're also £100)

the Z3 is 5mp, and the F40fd is 8mp. So that right there is worth the 20.

Megapixels aren't everything, they're just the size (in dimensions) of the images. I'd be annoyed at 3+ MB photos that a poor performing 8 MP camera would produce, waste of disk space. Higher megapixels are only good if the cameras are good quality. That is why I am asking here, to see if the F40fd is a good 8 MP camera.

From what I can tell, the Z3 is a bit better than the Z1 (same MP).

The Z5 is a bit better than the Z3 due to the Super CCD sensor and slightly higher MP.

However, from what I can tell, the Z10 is no better than the Z3 apart from outputting at a higher megapixel. In fact, I've heard it's not as good in low-light conditions due to the sensor.

Thing is, The F40fd is meant to be quite a bit better than the Z3 (not as sexy looking, but I don't care about that as much any more) but I don't know if it justifys the extra £20.
