So my tax refund showed up in my checking account yesterday morning and today I spent it. Just got home from buying myself a D40x. Had planned on the D80, but after thinking about it I opted for the D40x instead. Save myself some cash for now and learn what I'm doing and then just upgrade the body once I'm good. Played with a bit and so far I'm enjoying it, but I'll give it a real work out once it has a full charge.

Good stuff, hope you enjoy it loads.
Don't be afraid to just experiment like crazy, and take lots of snaps, with digital you can practice, practice, practice!

Thanks, already enjoying it. I have a pair of ferrets that have become excellent subjects to practice with. I'd love to go outside and take some shots, but it's 10F at the moment and I don't know about the camera, but I know it's not good for me, lol.

I got a D40x for Christmas and have been enjoying it fully! It never fails when your in the moment and you need to take that picture. The only problem I have with it is that it has no internal AF motor, I've started to look to upgrade the body lately.

Oddly enough, the reason I wanted the D80 was for the internal AF motor but since pulling the D40x out of the box I find myself doing more manual focusing that AF anyways.
