i have several mp3s with silent parts that need to be trimmed. the parts are fractions of a second long, so i need a program that displays the waveform and allows me to zoom in to a high resolution. what's the best program to use for this?

i thought about using audacity, but i don't want to import the audio and then re-encode it because it's inefficient and can affect the quality.

thanks!

Have you looked at mp3 Direct Cut? I think it's what you are after.

I wonder how it makes the edits and saves without re-encoding...seems like witchcraft to me.

thanks, brodel. that's a nice program, but i wasn't able to zoom in as much as i would have liked. i had to use audacity to identity the points and then put those in manually in mp3 direct cut. but when i analyzed the result in audacity again, it looked like some parts weren't trimmed.

maybe i'll have to try it again.
