Hi All,

Ok basically I want to set my Windows Live Messenger email inbox icon to automatically open Outlook 2007. Ive been told by MS Support that I need to do this in IE7 by setting the email client for hotmail to Outlook 2007.

The instructions they sent me though are for IE6 as IE7 on vista replaces the email client options with the button to take you to the Vista control for default programs. Now in here I have set under Custom (in Set Program Access and Defaults) Outlook and IE7 as default browser and email client and both also have all their defaults. However I can still not get Messenger to open anything apart from IE7 and go straight to Windows Live.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Can't you tell Outlook to set itself as the default mail client on your computer? I think that would probably be the best way to do it.

Did you already try this option?

Yes I have tried setting Outlook to the default within Outlook itself. As regards the internet options I do not have that in Vista with IE7, below shows what my options look like and then where I can set these options in Vista which I have done.
