It's a nice idea but some things just do not work. Here, let me show you.

First off, the start button has this very weird white and thick border surrounding it and it goes down into my desktop and partially covers the first icon (your zipped VS) and overlays it. Second, every button has a thin white border around it. Not only the buttons but every selectable word in the address bar in Explorer (like themes, control panel, personalization)
Also some other things I kind of dislike is the difference in the taskbar gradient. I think it has too much contrast, practically black and white. Maybe try a black with a dark gray or a really dark gray with a medium gray? And the start button is okay, but I personally don't like that it's dark. I'd like it better if it was a little brighter. But that's nitpicking.
It's a good take on a dark theme and I like the sharp corners but I just have some problems with it.

Hmm, I'm running x64 SP1. Might only be compatible with that. Bummer. If thats the case I'll make a x86 friendly version. Anyone with x64 care to test it for me?

I just tested it on my Vista SP1 x64, works fine.

Just made one in my 32bit Vista VM and it did the same thing it did on your machine Gamerhomie. Must be a pre SP1 problem.

I got the same problem as Gamerhomie. I'm running Windows Vista 32bit and have Sp1 installed. I love this visual style out of all the others I've tried. Is there some big difference in 64 bit and 32 bit for this to be happening?
Thanks

Thank you very much.
EDIT: Found a small bug: The start button is elevated 1 pixel above the taskbar when the taskbar is on the bottom of the screen. No big deal, but I thought you'd want to know. Everything else is perfect

Well this is the first case that I've seen it happen with SP1.

Its worked fine for everyone else with SP1 regardless of x86 or x64. I'll have to do a little research to figure out why its happening.

Awesome, it's perfect now. I'll let you know if I find any other issues, but I've been using it since I first posted and that was the only thing I noticed.

Argh, I'm not sure whats causing this. I've emailed uk.intel asking for a solution but I haven't recieved a reply yet. It's annoying and confusing how inconsistently its happening.

Updated with a few variations and bug fixes.
It looks nice, but I'm also having that display problem. I hope you're able to fix it, because it's a theme I'm dying to use.

Very nice theme!
Two requests/comments:
Is it possible for you to make a variation where the default gray on the start button and task bar icons is a bit darker? I'm using this visual style on a dark wallpaper and the light gray looks kind of out of place.
Also, is it possible for a version to remove the start menu user icon as well?
Thanks!

Vista 32 w/SP1, and I'm getting the white spaces as well.
Also, did you take out the window titles? I can understand wanting a clean look at the top of each window.. but the window titles are pretty essential.
