I've been getting so confused over this lately. I thought they changed it all to "windows live mail" and the desktop email client was "windows live mail desktop". but now i guess they changed hotmail back to "windows live hotmail" and the email client to "windows live mail" ahh!

Anyways ha, does anoyne here use it? Anyone know of any good addons or plugins for it? or can you even do that ? I know you can get plugins for windows live writer. So i was hoping there was something simliar for live mail.

i love how there are zero ads in live mail, and it runs pretty good for me besides some freezing here and there. I guess it does that when its syncing with the server?

I love how simple the UI is, but also how pretty it is. Windows Live is really beautiful in my opinion.

I also love how windows live mail works with live messenger. At first i thought live mail and hotmail was pretty lame because I was used to using gmail and the gmail notifier, and i don't think there is anything like it for hotmail or live mail desktop, but turns out that live messenger works just like a notifier when you get email. It pops up and lets you know and everything. So it's cool. I just don't like having alot of software open at once.

i seen something on Live's site about alerts. Maybe that will do it? or is it about the same thing?

Also how many accounts do you use in live mail? I only use my one @live addy, and thats all and have no problems.

ARe there any good tips on customizing windows live mail that you have done?

I'm just really interested in seeing how many people actually use the windows live mail email client, and how they have it set up and customized.

thanks

I used to use it but it kept forcing itself to be the default mail client and it takes longer to startup than the regular web based interface.

I have 3 live accounts IIRC.

I dont think there are any plugins for it, but i havent looked in a while.

and yes the naming is confusing lol, its even funnier that they started using the hotmail name again to stop people from being confused haha tongue.gif

I use it, it's fantastic.

I use outlook 2007 for my main email address (non hotmail). I've got 2 hotmail accounts that use live mail, it's got a nice UI, really easy to use and loads up quickly on Vista 64bit. I've had no problems with it trying to be my default mail program and it has never crashed.

Yep, I love using it. I can check my inbox via Windows Messenger and it automatically loads WL Mail instead of opening up an internet explorer window, which is not my primary browser.
Pupik
I use "Windows Mail" for my ISP's and work POP3 account and for everything else, I just paste my g-mail account and use its own web interface.

I use Windows Live Mail for it's beauty and it's very neat ability to almost seamlessly use several different accounts without any identity switching or log in-log out scenarios.

I use it to sync up all my email accounts and I think it works pretty well.
I quite like the integration with Windows Live Messenger contacts and I also like the synchronisation with the online Hotmail version,

I use it on my desktop and laptop to check both my Hotmail and university email accounts. Hotmail's web interface is still dogcrap slow.

Besides its pretty interface, being able to keep an address book sync'ed with my Messenger contacts is a good plus.

Windows Live Mail is definitely what Windows Mail should have been. thumbs_up.gif

I used to use Live Mail, but now i just have digsby check my mail, and if I want to read it, i'd just click on it.

I use it because Internet Explorer is extremely sluggish.

Once they introduce the ability to use your Windows Live Calendar within it, I will switch primarily to it.

i don't use hotmail.com anymore, i got Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Office Outlook
Outlook for work-related stuff, and mail-merge (from Office Word)
Mail for sending web pages as email message
Live Mail for the usual stuff

I'm using a hotmail and live address on it; used to put gmail on, but weirdly I prefer to stick with the web-based UI for Gmail.

I use it on my laptop just because it's simple and fast (and elegant). I still use Outlook 2007 on my desktop PC, though I wish Outlook took a few design cues from Windows Live Mail.

I had Windows Live Mail before and I love the interface. It was clean, simple and easy to use. I use it for my Live accounts as well as my Yahoo account through YPOPS. The only thing is, I wasn't that happy that I couldn't transfer or back up some of my emails on to my computer. I couldn't even export some addresses to another account. So I'm now using Thunderbird and I've never looked back.

That said, Windows Live Mail is a sound program and I hope Microsoft continue to improve it. At the moment, I'm looking forward to Thunderbird 3 tongue.gif !

I have an msn email account, so when I looked for an email program, Outlook 2007 told me to screw myself because they no longer support HTML email servers. I recently installed Vista on my computer and became aware of Windows Live Mail. I love it. Fast, easy, simple, good looking. The only problem I have with it is that my notifications are non existant. No message box, pop ups, anything really. Just a faint "ding" that can barely be heard at normal speaker level. Anyone know of any plugins or modifications that can be done?

I tried the Windows sidebar gadget associated with Live Mail but it failed to alert me in any way.

Overall though, thumbs up for Live Mail
