Full Version: Do we need a seperate sub-forum for Safari Users?
Neowin Forums > Help & Discussion Center > Software Discussion & Assistance > Web Browser Discussion > Chrome/Safari (KHTML & WebKit)

Now that Safari 3.1 for Windows is out. It would be good to have a separate sub-forum for Safari users.

What say you, Neowinians? smile.gif

I wouldn't say we needed it, but it would be nice for the people who do use it to be able to post problems and so on.

Fine by me.

I agree. It might also be a good place to post about webkit considering that it's getting a lot of steam lately (iPhone, S60, Android, Adobe AIR, etc).

I just suggested it because I quite like playing with Safari on Windows. I might have a gripe or two but otherwise it's not a bad product at all.

Yes please smile.gif With recent news like this, and with the release of 3.1, Safari is only going to gain marketshare and so it deserves its place as the fourth main contender in the browser wars.

If the general "Web Browser Discussion" forum was over-run with these now, I'd agree. However, it's currently not, so i can't think too many people want to post about it anyways, even if it had it's own forum.
The_Decryptor
I can't see much point, Safari isn't as extensible as the other browsers (so questions would really be limited to "How do i add a bookmark?")

Third*

Market share wise it's IE > Firefox > Safari. Then the others.

I agree with Decryptor, I havent seen a massive amounts of threads regarding Safari. If it really gains traction but if we start there where does it end?

Well as I understand it, Opera has less market share than Safari and yet it has it's own sub-forum and Safari doesn't. ermm.gif

Another vote from me. smile.gif thumbs_up.gif
Rappy
I would think we do because there are some days there are problems with the Windows version so its a vote from me.
Crazysah
We should have one on a trial run for a few days or a week and see how it goes...
megamanXplosion
Opera might have less marketshare, but people talk about Opera more than Safari on these forums.
PureLegend
I think we should avoid subforums as often as we can to avoid confusion for new members.
megamanXplosion
I agree. Unless there is a genuine need for another subforum, it should be avoided.
wellofsouls
there definitely should be a Safari/KHTML/WebKit subforum, they are quite a sizeable family of browsers already, with Konqueror, Safari, Swift, iCab, OmniWeb, Shiira, Midori, S60 Browser, Google Android, and with Epiphany joining, there's no reason why there's no KHTML/WebKit subforum when there are ones for Firefox/Gecko and Opera/Presto.
Sub_Zero_Alchemist

I say add it, doesn't hurt to have one for the Safari users. sooner or later it's bound to happen.

32-19... I guess we need one on a trial run!
