I have Live Messenger with Live Plus and I've used A-Patch with no luck

Make sure you read everything carefully when selecting and applying the patch. Mess Patch now has a warning message before patching that asks if you are sure you want to remove the advertisements and defy their purpose, it puzzles a lot of people as to why the adverts remain once they have patch MSN.

Well if your using the latest version of Plus! theres a skin that removes ads ect with no visual skin change.
