I am willing to spend $100-$200 dollars on a camera. I would prefer if it was a small sized one.

Just want to know what a good one for this price range would be.

I have a Cannon PowerShot A720IS and I freaking love it smile.gif It is not one you would use for serious commercial photography, but if you want a nice high end (lower priced...isn't that an oxymoron?) camera for everyday shooting, I would highly suggest the Cannon.

Can't go wrong w/ anything canon.

I'm actually researching the same thing lol. I found the following cameras:
Sony Cybershot DSCw80b 7.2MP for $175 @shop.com
Sony Cybershot DSCw120p 7.2MP for $179 @BestBuy
Kodak EasyShare M1033 10MP for $185 @CircuitCity <--- best deal for sure

Please don't give into the megapixel myth. Cramming pixels into small point and shoot sensors will give you more and more noise.

To print a photo at 300dpi on 8.5"x11" without degrading you need 8.4MP or more. It all depends on how much quality you need.

EDIT: In case you were wondering how I came to this conclusion, 300dpi*11"=3300, 300dpi*8.5"=2550, and 3300*2550=8415000 (8.415MP)

With my Nikon D50, I blew up a 6MP picture to 20x30 poster size for a parent who wanted a collage of their son and it was just fine....

Nonsense, I've printed letter sized photos with 6MP cameras just fine. You'd be really hard pressed to notice degradation. (on a dslr though)

edit: found a good chart that should help http://www.bhphotovideo.com/FrameWork/char...ChartPopup.html

Oh well. Anyways, when looking at cameras I looked at how big the screen was and how fast it takes/turns out. Personally I'd be fine with anything above 6, but I recently learned more about dpi and degradation and thought I'd share my knowledge tongue.gif.

I've done 11x17" images from my 6mp D50, and you can't tell the difference in image quality from a normal 3x4 sized print. Megapixels are really only useful for editing/cropping.

Go with Canon. I've owned a few canon point and shoot cameras and they've been awesome. Always consistent in quality and value. Go with an "A" series for a regular point & shoot digital camera or the "SD" series for a nice compact camera. Personally, I love the SD series. They're all great. Just buy the best one you can afford.
