I'm looking at this lens to add to my inventory of currently 17-55mm and 50mm.
Has anyone got this lens and give me any feedback on it.
Im mainly wanting it because im appealed that I use it for portraiture to get headshots and also upper body shots as well, also would probably do some gig photography with it, and with teh faster aperture it appeals to me.
What do you lovely folk think to this?
Im rocking a 350D as well.

Why though? The 17-55 is pretty much the same range.
I have the sigma 24-60 and love it. Cheap too - I got mine for $220 new
Consider an 85 1.8 instead.
Brandon is right that the 17-55 is basically the same. Same aperture too.

Yea you guys think so, its just I was liking the ability to zoom in and out and with a 85 prime I wouldnt be able to do that, still recommend it more than?
For portraits and upper body/headshots, definitely.
Your zoom = your feet!

haha alright then giga

but sometimes you dont have room

What about the 17-85mm lens then? or still the prime over it?
17-85 is worse than the 18-55 IS in terms of sharpness.

I have the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 and its good on cropped sensors, very sharp for a 3rd party.
Might be a bit long for what you want it for though...
