The stupid Windows Live installer keeps getting stuck on "99% downloaded" whenever I try to download Windows Live Mail Desktop. Would anyone be willing to host the standalone download (for the final version, not the beta) for me? If someone can, I'd greatly appreciate it. smile.gif Thanks!

There is a fix for that, it's because of SP3.. check http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=637212

it worked for me but be patient after you do the fix, if it gets stuck at 99% give it some time and it will finally install

Tried this already no.gif It just refused to install eventually...and, it's on BOTH XP SP3 and Vista for me. That's why I prefer the standalone installer- easier.

Someone posted a link to it somewhere here. It worked for me this time. The last one would not install.

I have it. It saves so much time by simply installing directly from the MSI. I'm going to maker sure that it's the latest version and then will post it.

Alright guys, I think we've got it now.

I've started a new thread with the downloads in it. I did this so that it would make it easier for people to search the forum for these files in the future.

The Live installer has got to be such a poorly designed installer. I had so many problems getting anything on the list installed. First off, it took forever to scan my system to see if the programs were already installed (apparently the fact that it was a clean install of Vista made absolutely no difference compared to an install that was months old and full of programs). Secondly, downloading the live programs seemed to take much longer than should have been necessary, and then installing took a fair bit of time as well. All this on a 2.13 C2D 2GB DDR2 800 system. However, I eventually did get installer to stop failing from either downloading or installing by trying and trying. Why MS made it so confusing to have, at least on Vista, a standard and then a Live version is beyond me, and then for the installer to be so poorly made is just goofy.

K, that was my rant for the day. Thanks for sharing the stand alone installers smile.gif
