ViewSonic VG2230 monitor
8800GTS 512MB (not the new G92 core)
P5K deluxe mobo

normally my resolution is 1680x1050 but today i turned my computer and it's changed to 1024x768. when i go try to change it i only get 2 options:

i've had the same drivers installed for months and no problems at all. i uninstalled, then reinstalled the latest video card and monitor drivers (i already had them installed before the problem). problem still persists

the monitor shows up as Generic Non-PnP Monitor in device manager. dono if that's normal or not unsure.gif i've never had to check it before

yesterday i didn't change any settings or install anything, i just did my normal everyday routine

sooooooooo i'm out of idea's except maybe install some older drivers?

If it helps to know... my monitor doesn't show up as generic. I'm pretty sure I installed the drivers for it to show up correctly. I can't remember for sure though as it was a while ago and I didn't think anything of it.

I would first just try to reinstall the current drive. I have seen it happen before and reinstalling usually fixes it.

I also had to download drivers for my Viewsonic monitor. That's probably your problem. I think mine were available on windows update.

@marty - if you read my post you'd see i did install the drivers for my monitor

BUT

i went to device manager, right clicked on my Generic Non-PnP Monitor and clicked uninstall and viola! it shows up as a viewsonic VG2230 biggrin.gif and i got all my options back

so THANK YOU utdarkviper for letting me know it wasn't normal to have it as generic
