I sold my Nikon D40 today for quite a lot of money - more than I expected, and with my upcoming birthday and growing love for photography I'd like to upgrade to a Nikon D80 - however I know it's quite an 'old' camera, so there's bound to be a new one soon replacing it, as I don't see Nikon placing one between the D60 and D80 or the D80 and D300...

I'd love to have a camera again by july and I've read something about a D90 possibly being announced mid-june... however, I'm not sure yet, because I think a D90 will be priced higher..

Any neowinians with an opinion on this? Buy a D80 now or should I still stick it out and wait for a D90?

on a sidenote; I can get a D80 for aprox. $835 / 540 eur, which I think is quite an OK price?

That D80 price seems about average.

I'd be expecting the D90 for christmas, to be honest. But the sooner the better!

If you need one, get one. D90 is most likely coming in September.

Just curious, but which is more comparable to a canon 40D, the D80 or the D300? The 40D is dead in the middle of Nikon's price range.

I would say the D300.

The D80 only shots 3FPS (bad for sports guys) and the ISO is terrible above 800. I would wait for the D90 - its bound to have a CMOS sensor instead of a CCD
