Attention Everyone Don't Get The New 8.6 Drivers It Has A Bug That Stops Your Display Driver From Responding And Your Computer Will Blue Screen So Far The Driver Crashes All All Games I Have Tried: Audiosurf, And All Of The Vista Games On My Computer, And As Far As I Know I Ran into This On x64 Vista SP1 Ultimate I Don't Know About x86 Though.

Try using something like driver cleaner and reinstalling the drivers.

Trust Me I Already Know It's 8.6 Because 8.5 Didn't Have This Issue And Without Any Driver Installed My Games Work, So It's Something On ATI's End.

Hi all,

I am new here! smile.gif

I wish I came across this post earlier. I spent all day pulling my hair out over this one! I was almost coming to the conclusion that my graphics card was playing up. I did everything possible and not thinking it would be a driver fault!

Blast you ATI, don't you test the drivers before releasing them! realmad.gif Anyway, I have since put 8.4 on and it is running very nice........

I have send an email to ATI expressing my anger on this one.........

Stop angering and just download the quickfix 8.6 driver (which is meant for 48xx cards) - it fixed my problems with VPU Recovery errors.

I've had similar problems with 8.6 after the upgrade from 8.5. Oh and btw - I have an X1950XTX so it works with all ATi cards.

Hi PrEzi,

Your link does not work (it brings up a timeout error message). Also, will it work with the Radeon X1800 series?

Cheers

OK, I've figured out, that it is session-based.
Just go to amd.com - choose support and drivers, then in the left pane select graphic support and search for the 4800 quickfix item Topic #: 737-35298

Look for "Radeon™ HD 4800 Series Hotfix"

Thank god I wasn't alone, I'd been suffering random BSOD's in all my PC games since installing this set and am now just about to go back to the much more stable 8.5's instead. I have a 3870 though so the hotifx is of no use to me.

8.6. They are just plain nasty.
