*** RESOLVED ***
im new on this and i wanna know how do i extract a dmg completely in leopard because the dmg doesn't want to mount it self. it is an image backupd made by disk utility from a external HD i got. im switching to a new external hard drive...? can anybody tells me if it is that posible to do it?
extract a DMG to desktop?

I have never heard of "extracting" a dmg before. If it wont mount than it is most likely corrupt and unusable. you can try unarchiver but again I dont think it's possible.

I know how to do it in Windows, not sure about mac..
Use UltraISO or another program to convert the file into an ISO as it is a disk image. Then burn the ISO to a CD or DVD or mount it using a virtual drive from a disk imaging application like Alcohol 120%

Change the extension of the .dmg to .iso
See if that helps. Generally, if the disk image doesn't mount its corrupt.

Quite simply mate, you just Double Click it, it opens, you drag the contents out, you eject it. "Extracting" is what you do to ZIP and RAR files

In Disk Utility under Images, there's an option called Scan Image for Restore. That might be worth a shot.
