I moved my dad's printer to another PC (running Windows XP w/SP2), and attempted to install it with the driver CD.

The installation procedure failed. Apparently, I'm missing the file usbprint.sys. Is this needed in addition to HP's own drivers?

My XP CD's don't seem to contain any compressed version of the file.

I can't think of any other way to get this printer to work. Any ideas?

Get the drivers from HP.

I forgot to mention this, but I tried this too.

Google search brought up direct links to the file, but I have no idea where it should be placed (maybe System32 folder?).

What link are you referring too?

Manually installing usbprint.sys doesn't seem to help the situation at all.

I've tried HP's PNP drivers and host-based driver for the 1022n.

The installer isn't able to detect the USB printer, which is properly plugged in and powered on.

Any more ideas?

When I install from CD, this is the error I get:

What do you suppose I could/should do?

I'll probably call HP or something if I can't figure it out. =\
