does it come with the dock? because on the apple store it is listed as coming with a "dock adaptor"

no it does not come with a dock, the last one to include a dock i think was the iPod Photo. Now all iPods come with a Universal Dock Insert, which goes into the Universal Dock (ex. i have 1 Universal Dock, but Switch-Outs for my 5thGen, 6thGen, and Touch

the Dock Adapter is the USB Cable that will plug into the bottom of the iPod ( Any Version ) or the Universal Dock

I really doubt it, since ATT and Apple tightened the activation rules.

i think i read that AT&T has a couple more years lockdown in the US.

the reason i asked is because my dad said i can buy an ipod off the website using his cc as a gift. so i can buy an ipod touch, but i really want an iphone! lol.
