Full Version: Where to find iPhone/iTouch dev support?
Neowin Forums > Macintosh Customization & Support > Apple General Discussion

I'm looking for a resource (forum, mailing list, etc) that I can go to for help in developing native iPhone apps. There are no forums for iPhone dev in the Apple discussion forums and apparently no mailing list either (although there is a web app one). I doubt there are many iphone app devs here, so where else can I go to get reasonably quickish help?

As far as I can tell (and I'm still learning too, so I could be very wrong), it's just basic Objective-C and Cocoa development, using special controls and objects in the iPhone SDK.

I found a pretty good tutorial if you need to get Objective-C down and you're already familiar with C: http://cocoadevcentral.com/d/learn_objectivec/. The rest of the site should have some other good resources as well, but I haven't looked around much.

That should get you going. From there, browsing through the examples and such on the iPhone dev site should provide enough guidance on specific iPhone controls and such.

I should clarify. I don't need help with Obj-C, or API references or that sort of thing. The SDK documentation is pretty good. I need help with specific problems I'm having with the API.

I frequently read MR, so I guess I'll go there.

Like I said, there doesn't appear to be a mailing list or forum for native app dev.

Macrumors has an iPhone Developer section. You can post any questions you like there smile.gif

The cocoa dev lists should still be helpful.

Hey, thanks all. I've registered on MR's forum so I can go there if I need any help. Anywho, it turns out that there IS an apple discussion forum for developers, but for some reason, it's not linked to from the discussion forum list. Strange, but I've got it bookmarked for future reference.
