I just got a 'new' printer from a friend of my mothers, he works at lexmark so he can provide us with printers and ink cartridges for free. But I got a discontinued model, a Lexmark P6250 which his daughter has been using for school work. But I hooked the thing up under Windows XP SP3 and found the Danish drivers for it.

But that is where the problems start, it installs the drivers without a problem, but when I want to print a 'test page' it just prints out an empty page, I try to click continue and it says the printer is offline despite still being powered on. But as soon as it has printed that page, an installation box jumps up in the corner, RTL8187_Wireless, can't install and goes away.

Then I get a yellow windows box error telling me a "USB Storage device isn't connected properly" and I get a "Safely removal of hardware" box with a "USB Storage Device".

Also, my computer won't start if the printer is plugged in, it'll just sit at the POST screen forever ...

It's so random, this is on a new install of XP and the printer has been working flawlessly for the previous owner, but not me apparently.

Any hints or tips here?
