Hello, soon I will be installing Windows Server 2003 on some new servers I bought, but I want RIS to be on it, to work with my Norton Ghost Server that i'll be creating.
At what point does RIS turn into WDS?
I know that in SP2 it gets changed.
But i'll be installing R2 SP2, is it still RIS, or does that get changed to WDS too?
Or shall I just stick with Windows Server 2003 SP1, where I know it's still RIS?
Problem is, i'd like my server to be up to date.

RIS still works with Win 2003 SP2. It is updated to WDS, however, WDS only applies to Vista images. I use RIS on our servers at work for Windows XP images, both of which are running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. The only difference is that the "Remote Installation Services" Service doesn't exist anymore and the service applicable is "Windows Deployment Services"
I'm not using any Vista images so WDS doesn't apply to me, however, I can confirm that the entire procedure for RIS is still exactly the same.

But will the "RIS" option still be available in Norton Ghost, shall I install it all and get it configured then install SP2? and maybe Ghost will still display RIS option.
Ghost has RIS?
Anyone have any links for good setup guides / Good Practice gudies for RIS / WDS???

Ghost has RIS?

You can add entries for Ghost into the OS Chooser menu which boots it into a Ghostcast session. Assuming WDS is set up in Mixed Mode, you should still be able to access the OS Chooser options.
