GNU / Linux September 2008 Desktops - Posting Guidelines


* If you plan to img-embed your desktop, please try to keep it under 100k (It's recommended that you link it, externally).

* Stay within the board rules, no matter how yummy you may believe it to be.

* If you are going to quote, there isn't a need to quote an img-embeded picture - Just don't do it. Please just reference the post by page number/page link/etc.

* Off Topic Posts will be edited or removed.

* The desktops thread is not to be used as a means to post images of a pornographic or otherwise provocative nature. We do not support a babes forum and neither will we in an unofficial capacity. Please help to keep the thread relevant and safe to browse for everyone.

* The moderators of this forum reserve the right to edit or remove your posts as necessary so they may comply with our Community Rules.

* In the interests of keeping the thread on topic it is strongly urged that you format your posts in the following order:

Themes: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).

Wallpaper: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).

Icons: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).

Programs: Name/where you got it (with link would be nice).

* Please use reduced-size thumbnails, where possible, out of respect for people running on lower bandwidth or screen resolutions.

I'm using the Clearlooks theme. I am using some Compaq wallpaper (this is a (really old) Compaq computer).

Acer Aspire One
Desktop behaviour is to have icons to minimised programs now.

EDIT: Just realised- look closely at the helmet or bum reflections and you might see the cameraman... or pixels

Great wallpaper! Where might one find it?

Its a photo I took a few years ago of Eilean Donan Castle.
I uploaded to savefile.
The image is 3072x2304.

Installed Picasa 3, and I was toying around with some the features, one of which is selctive B&W, on a picture I look last year, Additionally, I installed the cairo dock, as I've found it more OSX-like, than the awn one.

fusion-icon is just running so I can turn on Compiz easily when friends come over so i can show off teh_Linuxxx


Desktop icons are mounted devices (currently just my iPod)

I'm not sure who's shot you are referring to, but most likely you are talking about 'conky'.

Wow! That is one awesome desktop. I'm realy feeling that Auriel stuff from lassekongo, but I can't find it for Metacity/GTK... Only for Windows. Any chance you want to share where you got it from?

The metacity theme is in "metacity-1" folder in color scheme catalog in Auriel archive.

Meanwhile, I changed my wallpaper, toyed around with my icon theme, and decided to make some new screenshots for y'all. There is one clean screeny and one dirrrrty!

The icon-theme and the gtk-theme are own-made (own-mod really). The gtk-theme is just a simple mod of the Blubuntu theme. The icon-theme is a house-made mash-up of all my favourite tango-styled icons and then some more.
