Anyone have an effective way of removing minor scratches or smudges off of the console? I am thinking of trying the banana method on it. I even considered buying some plastic polish but I don't want to screw it up.

I'd go with the plastic polish myself. But if you do, be sure to use a micro fibre cloth or you'll scratch your console more.

TR-3 Resin Glaze or 3M rubbing compound.
