Websites such as Neowin use intellitxt to inject ads into text articles where it dynamically changes suitable words into ad links with the hover popups.
It's annoying and slows down website loading and ruins articles. Discussions of adblock isn't allowed on neowin though. But I'm guess if they didn't use intellitxt far less people would want to use adblock on neowin anyway. Intellitxt is the only thing close to popup ads in annoyance.
